Another blog!  Let’s face it, these days anybody can put up a website and talk about anything that pops into their heads.  I will stay a little more specific than that, but a few interests may creep into the conversation.  I like to cook.  I like to read.  I like pop-culture.  But I love politics, and when a presidential year rolls around, I am in hog heaven!

I went to law school at the University of Texas at Austin and practiced law for about ten years.  As much as I love the law – and I really do love the law – I did not like working as a lawyer.  Most of the rest of my adult years were in commercial real estate and “law-related” endeavors surrounding politics.  I enjoyed both, but I think we can safely say that I am, always was and always will be a political “junkie.”

I worked in politics, both as a paid professional and as a volunteer, for most of my adult life.  This is fair warning.  I am a conservative, as defined in modern times, without the social issues.  I despise the size, the scope and the cost of government.  But telling other people how to live their personal lives makes me squeamish.  Nevertheless, I’m always happy to offer suggestions!

I am also a 10th Amendment conservative.  I don’t believe that the federal government belongs in anything that the states can do better, leaving national defense, immigration, treaties, parks and highways just about the sum-total of the business of the feds.  I am a classical liberal, as defined by Adam Smith.  I believe in individual liberty, in property, in freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly and, most importantly, in free markets.

I bring that world view to everything I do, including this website.  I don’t ever apologize for my point of view or for being blunt.  For the most part, I am especially careful to do the research, and while I have been known to offend, I try not to.  But this year of creepy Democrat politics has brought out the worst in me.  Not that offending is hard to do these days.  Being offended is a popular thing to be.  People seem to love being wounded.

So, if there is some possibility that my words might not suit you – and you don’t like reading words that don’t suit you – I’ve given you the heads-up.  I, however, love reading words that don’t suit me, so feel free!  But be respectful and clean.
