September Pocket-sized Punditry

September’s snippets run the gamut from deadly serious to frivolous.

Hamas and America’s Useful Idiots.

The cease-fire and release of any remaining hostages is completely in the hands of Hamas.  They perpetrated a vicious, unprovoked attack on innocents, killing more than 1,400 Israelis and Americans and taking more than 250 hostages.  It was an act of war, and Israel responded.  Now, Hamas is using the useful idiots here and abroad to complain about the hell they unleashed on themselves.

Americans support waste, corruption, slavery and terror all over the world with our foreign aid.  There is no value to international organizations like the United Nations – have you seen who sits on the UN Human Rights Council?  Ridiculous.  Yet, we pay a lion’s share of the cost of that group of antisemites and international thugs, while we slow-walk the promised weapons to Israel.  Again, ridiculous.

Unless and until the Palestinian people rise up and throw out the terrorists who have taken control of their government, they will live in this nightmare.  If the current apocalyptic situation in Gaza ended tomorrow, Hamas would start another war with another murderous attack the day after.  I won’t mince words here.  Hamas are not human beings.  Terrorists are not human beings.  They are animals.

They need to be wiped off the face of the earth!

Did Kamala Grab A Burger?

I don’t know whether Kamala worked in a McDonald’s or not, and I couldn’t care less.  Half of all teenagers in the country have worked at a fast-food restaurant.  My teenagers chose Chuck E. Cheese.  If, however, Kamala lied about working at McDonald’s because she believed I might find it significant, then she’s an idiot and a liar, not presidential material.

My Royal Guilty Pleasure!

I freely admit that pictures and news about the Royal family in Britain are my guilty pleasure.  That comes from my mother.  She and the late Queen Elizabeth were about the same age, and my mother had great affection for the Queen.  She also thought that Princess Margaret’s ill-fated romance with Peter Townsend was terribly sad.

I don’t spend much time seeking out news of the Royal family, particularly not since the Queen’s health decline and her eventual death, but who can miss the headlines that saturate the media?  Harry and Meghan are the most interesting of the bunch, but their politics are so silly that I am not a huge fan.  Nevertheless, I feel compelled to defend them on a point or two.

Harry has shown obvious lingering effects from the death of his mother when he was just twelve years old, remaining particularly sensitive to undue tabloid attention on his wife.  And it is difficult to argue that there is no racism in the Royal Family when Princess Michael of Kent shows up to meet the new biracial cousin wearing a Blackamoor brooch!  William has proven himself much less likeable than I would have thought – arrogant and controlling.

Still, people who epitomize celebrity – and a family whose entire job is waving and shaking hands certainly are that – really have little to complain about.  In fact, both Harry and Meghan have come closer to actually working for a living than the other four “senior” members of their immediate family.  Meghan grew up with a degree of “privilege,” and what can we say about Harry’s upbringing in a palace?  “Privilege” is a gross understatement.

So, I do wish they would all just get over themselves.  The family feud is tiresome and unattractive.

Might Be Deliberate, Might Be Incompetent . . . Certainly Is Dangerous!

Why would the FBI release a letter written by would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, that offers a $150,000 bounty to someone who can finish the job?  I heard a commentator speculate that it was a pre-emptive move against future leaks.  That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard.  Are they trying to get the former president killed?  Uh . . . I sure wouldn’t be surprised!
